If this were KCA's major donor effort then no it certainly wouldn't be viewed as an "incredible" fundraising success in terms of dollars. However, it seems as though this is more an effort at building community and awareness and building that lower-level donor base; in those terms it can be seen as a success. In 2007 KCA reported having just over 2,000 monthly donors (the lower level donors). Now with this one video they have gotten over $40,000 from 7,800 people and have had 1,000,000 views.

I think the true success of the effort will only be able to seen in the coming years as we see how successfully KCA is able to turn these viewers and small time donors into continued donors and prospects for larger gifts. Kudos though to KCA for trying out the new social media methods like video and text messaging and seeing if it works for them. You never know until you try!
