Tom, good post on the increasingly relevant topic of Mobile and nonprofits. In a recent digital marketing survey that Charity Dynamics conducted across our clients, we found that Mobile remains a top priority for nonprofits -- as it should -- for 2012. Realizing that their constituents and donors are just like those consumers browsing the store aisles, nonprofits continue to increase their focus on mobile solutions to help engage at a deeper level and boost results. See more results from our survey here: http://bit.ly/y8z70j

Interesting figures... I know that I do this sometimes while shopping so it's reassuring to se that it's not just me being geeky.

The two other points that this brings to mind are, firstly, the importance of making sure that whatever 'URGENT' campaign is the theme of your mailings are also visible when the donor goes online and, secondly, the fact that when they do visit the website, they're unlikely to go back to the print (or DRTV or whatever) mechanism if they choose torespond. If this trend is increasing, it will obviously make it more difficult to track these results fully so this is something that we all need to get better at.

I may be old fashioned, but I would not turn to others (friends, acquaintances, etc) for their opinion on a charity I might give to.
I want "expert" reviews, GuideStar reviews, and similar to check out a charity.

I question the value of turning to friends unless they are a true expert for advice on giving to a charity.
