In case you headed to the beach early last Friday, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told a financial conference that the economy — U.S. and globally — is on the verge of growing again.

As reported here in the NY TImes, despite his upbeat tone, he did say the recovery would be "relatively slow at first." Understandable, given that the Fed expects unemployment, now at 9.4%, to hit the double digits later this year!

Any of you fundraisers out there excited yet? Are you seeing any of these signs …

  • Average gifts edging back up?
  • Major donors starting to return your phone calls?
  • Your annual retreat back on?

Seriously, what predictors of "the worst is over" are you looking for? And when you see them, what will you do first?
